Below is a running order for a traditional ceremony, many of the elements outlined are optional.  It is important to remember that when it comes to planning your ceremony there are many and varied rituals, traditions and customs.  None are necessarily right or wrong; they are merely reflections of history, people and customs.  All can be adapted to suit your hopes and dreams as a couple.

 
Order of proceedings

·         Introducing the Couple (must be included)

·         The Asking

·         Bouquet & Tipping of the Veil

·         Welcoming Comments

·         Monitum (must be included)

·         Personal Comments about the Couple

·         Optional rituals such as Sacred Space, Blessing of Hands or Warming of the Rings

·         Honouring Parents and other special people

·         Memoriam – Recognising those who have passed

·         Expression of Intent

·         Affirmation of Family and Friends

·         Optional Reading

·         Exchange of Vows (must be included)

·         Exchange of Rings

·         Affirmation of the Union

·         Optional rituals such as Handfasting, Candle or Sand Ceremonies

·         Declaration

·         Music to end

·         Signing of the Marriage Register

·         Presentation as Husband and Wife

·         Music to end

·         Bridal Recession
